Modern Classes

Modern is the second most important style of dance for those wishing to take on a career as a dancer.

The modern theatre syllabus combines modern dance, jazz and lyrical contemporary dance styles. The earlier grade work is based on natural movements: skipping, walking, running and jumping and is designed to encourage an imaginative and rapid response from beginners.

The modern syllabus is designed to create strong, flexible and expressive dancers.

After ballet, modern is the most important subject for children wishing to take dancing further, as a possible career choice.

The modern syllabus consists of Primary, Grades 1 - 6, Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2.
